So for my first post in quite a while, I want to talk about one of the undisputed rulers of high street fashion.
Like most girls, I have a very on-off relationship with Primark. Sometimes, the stock is so amazing I can almost hear my debit card crying, and others, I struggle to even find a pair of socks. So when I called in a few weeks ago and spotted a newly refurbished makeup and skincare department, I was a little skeptical.
As always, the prices were amazing and far cheaper than similar items you would find in Superdrug or Boots, but it did make me question whether the quality of the products would live up to their more expensive counterparts. In the end, I came away with a basket full of new items to try out and see if paying a little less for the products was really worth it.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve tried and tried, but so far – L’oreal Colour Riche is the undisputed champ of the polish world for me. I picked up a few different shades and finishes from Primark so I could really test them out.
The first ones I tried out were the shades Khaki and Bisque from the matte nail varnish range. Admittedly, i’ve always played it safe and stuck to a glossy finish when it comes to my nails but after seeing the hoards of amazing matte colors on Instagram – I felt like trying something new.
After applying the first coat, the first thing I noticed was the amazing drying time. Within a matter of seconds, my nails felt completely dry to the touch. Since this is the first matte varnish i’ve ever tried, this could be just to do with the finish rather than the brand, but I was definitely impressed. As a serial caffeine drinker, painting my nails is usually a frustrating process for me, culminating in me slumped on the bed with a cup of coffee and a hideously smudged manicure. For once, I managed to keep my nails intact and get my caffeine fix.
The shades are all beautiful and just pushed me far enough outside my nude/black/beige comfort zone to feel like something new. Khaki was exactly the shade you’d expect it to be, while Bisque is a beautiful lavender-grey tone.
For £1.50, they’re a little more expensive than the gloss finish range (they retail for £0.80) but that’s still far cheaper than most drugstore brands. I love that the bottle has a frosted coating, it’s a cute little touch that just brings up the quality feel of the product a little.
My only complaint is that the color pay off is a little below what i’d usually like. To get the coverage i like, it look 3 or 4 coats, but other than that the polishes are beautiful!
I’ll definitely be picking up a few more bottles on my next trip into Primark!
